Curricula
The major in Slavic and East European Studies addresses the critical need for a nuanced understanding of the history, politics and cultural contexts of this geopolitical region. Students completing the major in Slavic and East European Studies have knowledge of the complexities of the area and its peoples, communication skills in at least one related language and have completed research and analysis to enable them to pursue graduate study, foreign or public service, international careers and global leadership.

**This language requirement may be fulfilled by any of these courses or by any of the languages of the region. The contemporary countries included in the region of Slavic, East European and Eurasian Studies: Albania, Armenia, Azerbaijan, Belarus, Bosnia-Hercegovina, Bulgaria, Croatia, Czech Republic, Estonia, Georgia, Germany, Hungary, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Latvia, Lithuania, Macedonia, Moldova, Montenegro, Poland, Romania, Russia, Serbia, Slovakia, Slovenia, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan, Ukraine, Uzbekistan.
Relevant courses taught by SEES affiliate faculty may be reviewed for inclusion in the major and secondary major through petition and approval of the director.
No more than six semester hours of courses listed in both Slavic, East European and Eurasian Studies and another department may be applied to the major requirements of that department and the major in Slavic and East European and Eurasian Studies.
